Undefeated Omaha Central Overcomes Halftime Deficit
The Omaha South Packers fell just short of their quest for the 2012 Class A Nebraska State Basketball Championship by falling to the undefeated Omaha Central Eagles who won their third straight state championship and finished the season with a 30-0 record.
It was Omaha South's first tourney appearance since 1993. To get to the championship they first had to beat No. 2 rated Norfolk and then beat No. 3 rated Papillion-LaVista. In the final they led the Eagles 27-23 at halftime but could not hold on for a victory.
Congratulations go out to the Packers and Coach Bruce Chubick, Sr. for an outstanding season!
Congratulations also goes out to neighboring Bryan High Bears who also competed in the state tournament and finished 2012 with a 15-9 record.
